I saw The Hammer last night. It was fantastic. It worked as a sports movie, as a movie about the triumph of the human spirit, as a biopic and as a window into the world of the deaf. It was funny at times and also moving. The crowd at the Hollywood ArcLight last night was a mix of the deaf and MMA fans. I heard people in the theater crying at more than one point, including the incredibly large man seated next to me. It was wholesome without being cheesy and allowed the viewer to experience, just a little bit, a world most people know nothing about. Check out The Hammer. It is beautifully directed, scored and acted, and if it does not win several awards, I am burning Hollywood to the ground.
