Quick review of Chinese Democracy

I have been listening to Chinese Democracy for one week now. Much like my man Chuck Klosterman, I give it a solid A-minus. No album is worth a 14-year wait – with the sole exception of however Eddie Murphy follows up 1993’s Love’s Alright – but Axl Rose and the new GNR have produced a great album. A couple of the songs are among the band’s best ever. These include: Street of Dreams, Catcher in the Rye and I.R.S. The album contains a bit of everything GNR does best – layering, mixing soft and hard, political lyrics, driving rock riffs and long, soaring solos. If you like GNR, or just rocking hard, it is a solid listen.
